Small towns dot the landscape in the farm country of west-central Minnesota.  Dianne and I were born and grew up in the small towns along the Great Northern Railroad.  Towns like Benson, Clontarf, Hancock and Morris were the towns of our youth.

This is beautiful country.  The glaciers receded and left some of the richest farm land on the planet.  They left 10,000 lakes in Minnesota as well.  The Great Plains extend west to the Rocky Mountains.  Forest lands lie to the north and east.

Like most young couples, we moved out of the small towns to "the cities".  That would be Minneapolis for us and it was in the 60s.   We never moved back, until now, as we move to our summer lake cabin on Lake Minnewaska.  We spent 50 some years away as we got educations, raised two daughters, and became part of the corporate world.

Gene and the girls earned six college degrees all together.  Dianne paid for them with a career in banking.  Gene became a Director of Information Systems while Dianne became a Wealth Management executive.

We retired after working 20+ years in Atlanta and moved to a gated golf community in Florida, north of Tampa.

We will use this blog to document our return home to the small towns of west-central Minnesota, and Lake Minnewaska (Native American word for "good water").

There is something special about "going home".  Stay tuned.
